Islam and Modern Science

With ground breaking discoveries being made in the field of Science in recent times, the world is ever evolving with many medical advances being made.

However, if one were to take a closer look at the religion of Islam, it is to be noted that discoveries made in the last century were actually recorded in the Noble Qur’an where there was no access to medical equipment as can be found today!

The Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the archangel Jibra’il (Gabriel) as per the command of Allah over 1400 years ago. Below are a few of the recent discoveries made in the field of Science that can also be found in the Qur’an.

Embryonic development:

“We created man from an extract of clay.  Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed.  Then We made the drop into an alaqah [leech, suspended thing, and blood clot], then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)…” Chapter of the Believers, verse 12-14

Proportion of rain:

“It is He who sends down water in due measure from the sky by which We bring a dead land back to life. That is how you too will be raised (from the dead).” Chapter of the Gold Ornaments, verse 11

Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean:

“He has let loose the two seas, converging togher, with a barrier between them that they do not break through.” Chapter of the Most Merciful, verse 19-20

Expiration of the Sun:

“And the sun runs to its appointed resting-place. This is the commandment of the Dominant, the Knowing.” Chapter Yaseen, verse 38

Attibutes of the sky:

“We made the sky a preserved and protected roof yet still they turn away from Our Signs..” Chapter of the Prophets, verse 32

Fingertip identification:

“Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.” Chapter of the Rising, verse 4

Ears: Active organs

“So We sealed their ears [with sleep] in the cave for a number of years.” Chapter of the Cave, verse 11
